Chapter 66 (Vigilantes)

Two thugs, one built along rhino lines and one equine, corner a pair of girls in Naruhata, boasting that neither police nor heroes bother with this stretch of town. One girl disagrees. Somebody here helps, she says, a hero of a sort, and both start shouting for The Crawler.

Koichi Haimawari arrives at once, delighted that locals finally use his chosen name. He slips every swing while chattering about the recognition, until Pop☆Step tells him to concentrate. Switching to his Slap Style, he peppers the pair with repulsion blasts and finishes with a double Shooty-Go-Blam. He is binding their hands when they break loose and lunge, only for Kirihito Kamachi and Ikajiro Takobe to drop them first.

Ikajiro presents the two as staff of Hopper's Cafe while Teruo Unagisawa hands out pamphlets. Kirihito lectures the thugs, tells them work beats trouble with the police, lays out the wages and terms for washing dishes, then cheerfully announces two new hires.

Kazuho Haneyama reminds Koichi about his interview. The girls ask for a photo, he agrees, and although she is pushing him to leave, Kazuho joins the shot along with Kirihito, Teruo, Ikajiro, Ichimoku Samazu and Jube Namimaru. At the interview for on-site cleaning work, the panel warns the labor is filthy and hard, which does not faze him. Asked what he valued most from his student years, he answers the experiences and the friends attached to them.

Back at his penthouse, mending a hoodie, Koichi says the interview went well and expects an offer. Kazuho asks whether a job like that means he has no ambitions left. His dreams already came true, he replies: for three years and change he helped people as a hero, vigilante or not, and now he needs real employment. He finishes the repair, pulls on a new limited edition hoodie, then admits that once hired, playing hero is over and the vigilante work ends. The confession catches her off guard. He suggests a patrol to break the hoodie in and asks her along. Turning over everything the work gave him, Koichi reflects that the summer of his last school year will be The Crawler's final season.

Citizens of Naruhata call for The Crawler by name for the first time, confirming the hero identity has taken hold. Koichi dispatches two villains with his refined Slap Style and a double Shooty-Go-Blam.

Hopper's Cafe is operating with Ikajiro Takobe, Kirihito Kamachi and Teruo Unagisawa on staff, and the two defeated thugs are hired as dishwashers on the spot.

Koichi interviews for an on-site cleaning job and tells Kazuho that employment means retiring as a vigilante, framing the coming summer as his last season.
