Madara Uchiha is Back

Sasuke wraps Madara in the black flames of Amaterasu, but Madara simply sheds his burning armour and walks free, leaving Naruto to note the futility of blunt attacks and Hashirama baffled by why their foe had shut his eyes. Madara rounds on Hashirama and recalls their final talk at the Naka Shrine, where he had insisted that only the combined might of Uchiha and Senju could deliver true happiness. He hurls Naruto and Sai aside, then uses the black receivers already planted in Hashirama to freeze him in place and siphon off his senjutsu chakra, a theft mirrored on the Hashirama face jutting from Madara's chest.

Marvelling at the power now at his fingertips, Madara is pressed once more by Sasuke and praises the young Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan, deciding the eyes would serve as a stand-in until his own Rinnegan returns. Elsewhere Black Zetsu, aware that Obito will die now that Madara lives, merges with Obito to claim Madara's eye and reveals itself as Madara's very will, ready to wield Obito's body against Kakashi and Minato.

Fending off his attackers, the sightless Madara fixes his attention on the tailed beasts and resolves to run them down. The chapter, volume 68 of the Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki arc, holds two art errors: Kakashi and Sai wear Konoha headbands rather than Allied Shinobi Forces ones, and Kakashi appears twice with his Sharingan inactive.
