Zou Zou no Mi

Sorted among the Zoan fruits, this one lends its holder the size, muscle, and cunning of an elephant, offering both a full beast shape and a blended one. What sets it apart is who swallowed it: not a human, but Funkfreed, the pet blade of CP9 chief Spandam, brought to life by a technique that Vegapunk devised. English translations have gone by Elephant-Elephant Fruit and, in a later volume, Eleph-Eleph Fruit.

The most straightforward gain is an elephant's frame and force. Since the eater here is a living sword instead of a man, the standout perk is that a lifeless object now holds life, so Spandam can summon the weapon to his side whenever he pleases and battle in a manner labeled Funkfreed Fencing. Past the usual sea-based drawbacks the ability shows no distinct flaw, though animating the blade also stitched a beast's instinct into it: a fear of pain and death, laid bare when Franky's threat to punch a hole through its skull scared it back into animal form.

Funkfreed's attacks build off that elephant body. Ivory Dart has the sword shoot forward, stretching like rubber to headbutt a foe and trap them between trunk and tusks, a non-lethal move aimed at pinning Nico Robin. For Elephant Chop, Spandam raises the sword overhead so Funkfreed slips into hybrid shape and lunges to skewer the target with its sword-trunk, a strike fierce enough to gash the bulletproof Franky.

Funkfreed, the pet sword of CP9's Spandam, is this fruit's lone bearer and fought under his master's hand throughout the clash at Enies Lobby. Anime coloring paints the full beast white, yet cover art and later material confirm the natural hue is gray, with the elephant resembling the Asian variety judging by its rounded back, stubby tusks, and modest ears. Because the blade had no life of its own to begin with, the Zoan's will is said to have claimed the sword completely.
