O-Chocho

So small that the towering Ashura Doji utterly dwarfs her, O-Chocho is shrunken even against ordinary folk. Her white hair sits gathered into a bun, and a threadbare white kimono printed with roses hangs on her frame. Twenty years before, her hair still kept its color and her body had not yet shriveled to its present size.

What marks O-Chocho is a stubborn grip on life, anchored in her trust that Toki's foretelling of the returning Scabbards and Kaidou's ruin would come to pass. Even with Shutenmaru's sword pointed at her, that trust never wavered. Years earlier, by contrast, she mourned that the townsfolk had abandoned the Kouzuki Clan and feared the reckoning she believed awaited them, just moments before she saw Toki perish.

Two decades back, with her home then in Bakura Town, O-Chocho stood beside her grandson as Kuri Castle went up in flames. With despair closing in on her, Kouzuki Toki arrived at the gate of the town to speak her parting words, and O-Chocho joined her neighbors in folding their hands in prayer.

By the present day she scraped by in dire poverty in Okobore Town, enjoying a brief turn of luck when Luffy, Zoro, and Tama hauled in food and water lifted from richer Bakura Town, only for Shutenmaru and the Mt. Atama Thieves to plunder the haul. When the bandit menaced the residents, she set herself in his way in a posture of prayer and declared her belief in Toki's foretelling; he raised his weapon to end her but was halted by the appearance of the Beasts Pirates' Jack. She afterward outlived the burning of the town, which the residents brought upon themselves by claiming blame for stolen Paradise Farm food, and once Wano was liberated she encouraged Tsurujo to rejoin her returned husband Kin'emon in the Flower Capital.
