Colonel Mugren

A bulky figure, Mugren carries wide shoulders and a thick torso atop unusually slender legs. His features taper into a big, rounded chin below a nose angled downward. For dress he wears a pale front-buttoning shirt with a frilled collar, dark trousers, and pointed dark boots. The concept art for the character also gives him a cigar.

Good-humored by nature, Mugren beamed his way through Oden's welcome celebration and roared with laughter alongside his crewmates at the hoard Joy Boy left on the final island. Riches pleased him as they would any pirate, and the bounty waiting at God Valley delighted him. His mood soured when things turned grim, though; battered and irritated, he snapped at Rowing and called him a fool for being thrilled that the fight had grown more interesting.

Forty-four years earlier, Mugren already counted among the Roger Pirates, joining a strike on the Kuja Pirates meant to win Shakuyaku over while Roger gathered the rest for a showdown with a Marine ship carrying Garp. The God Valley Incident drew him in thirty-eight years ago, where the crew aimed to free Shakky from the World Nobles' hunting contest. Once Rayleigh secured her release, Mugren pushed toward the prize alongside Taro, Rowing, and Scopper Gaban, only for the Rocks Pirates to ambush them over that same treasure. When Imu seized Jaygarcia Saturn's body and ran wild, both he and Rowing were hurt; a furious Roger told Gaban to look after them, grab the loot, and leave. Wounded as he was, Mugren held out against a surge of Imu's Supreme King Haki. He later ate his fill at Oden's party, laughed with the crew over Joy Boy's leftover treasure, and watched Roger christen that last island Laugh Tale. Once the legendary crew finally dissolved, his fate slipped into mystery.
