Raideen

A giant by birth, Raideen lets light-colored hair spill out along the sides of a warrior's helmet whose eyepieces conceal his gaze. In his earlier years he favored a striped button-down left mostly open at the top, worn beneath a dark coat trimmed with light fur.

Time has changed his look. Both his hair and mustache have lengthened and faded to gray, his helmet has darkened, and his shirt, while keeping its old cut, has lost its stripes in favor of a uniform light shade.

Few things weigh on Raideen as heavily as keeping Elbaph's warrior roots alive, and he devotes himself to raising his trainees toward greatness. So fierce was the effort he put into Hajrudin's instruction that even Jorul and Jarul, the giants' celebrated heroes, praised him for it.

One hundred and two years ago, Raideen counted himself among the Giant Warrior Pirates. The day Dorry and Brogy reeled in a haul of massive Sea Kings, the whole crew gathered on an island to drink and celebrate the catch.

Some sixty-three years ago, he set about training Hajrudin in combat, hoping to toughen the boy enough to join the crew once one of the captains came back from their long-running duel. The pair faced off, and Raideen got the better of his pupil. Soon after, Jorul and Jarul arrived at the western village, and he greeted the two heroes warmly. A week onward, the Winter Solstice fast was underway when Charlotte Linlin went berserk in her hunt for semla. After she dealt Jorul a fatal blow, Raideen kept hold of his student, who was shouting at Jarul to kill her. He later went to pay respects at the graves of Jorul and several other giants.

Generations later, swept up in the turmoil that engulfed Elbaph, Raideen stood with his countrymen against Killingham's MMAs. He was left shaken when Jarul's broadcast laid bare the truth about how Harald had died and cleared Loki of any blame.
