A Forbidden Piece of History! A Theory Concerning a Kingdom

Working from relics dug up close to the island, Shaka lays his theory before Sanji's group: a highly advanced realm once thrived in the distant past. He argues it ranked among the leading powers of the Void Century before the twenty kingdoms that would later establish the World Government wiped it out. So as to bury every memory of that realm and its ideas, the Government forbade any study of the period, which carved a hundred-year blank into history.

Shaka ties this suppression to Ohara, contending the Buster Call descended on the island because its scholars dared examine the Void Century. Familiar with Clover, Vegapunk had once gone to the wrecked island to pay his respects, where he came upon books cast into a lake. That discovery implied the scholars had given their lives hurling the writings out of the Tree of Knowledge as it burned to keep them intact, and Olvia likewise begged Robin to flee alive so the knowledge would not vanish. Touched by such devotion, Robin breaks into tears. Shaka adds that he had the sunken books pulled from the lake but ran into a stranger he could not identify. Elsewhere, in the Fabiriophase junkyard, Luffy and Chopper poke around the robot trying to find a cockpit, then fail to start it. An old man suddenly warps into the area and ends up wedged partway inside the machine. Once Luffy yanks him loose, Bonney names him the original Dr. Vegapunk, chief researcher of the SSG, and he shows Luffy how to operate his hovering DOM boots.

The adaptation inserts Luffy and Chopper staging their own take on Pirate Docking and lengthens the flashback to Clover's past. In this version, the doubter of Shaka's claim that an ancient city resembles Egghead is Usopp rather than Franky. The Tell Me, Robin segment closes with Lilith breaking in, which leads into her seizing it the following week. The episode marks the debut of the Nomi Nomi no Mi.
