The G-5 Wiped Out! Doflamingo's Sudden Attack!

On Punk Hazard, Caesar's former minions search for comrades turned to stone by the deadly gas. Doflamingo drops from the sky, flings the severed heads of Baby 5 and Buffalo back onto their bodies, and unleashes Conqueror's Haki that flattens most of the G-5 soldiers. The survivors fall under his Ito Ito no Mi strings, forced to turn their weapons on one another as he demands Law's whereabouts. Smoker enters the fray with a White Blow, and when some soldiers rush to help, Doflamingo's strike lands on Smoker instead, who takes the blow as a shield for his men and is left badly hurt.

Aboard the Sunny, Luffy asks why they are bound for Dressrosa, and Law answers only that he has business there. The sea current suddenly tilts into a slope and the ship slides down it, and once they reach calmer water Luffy lays out the alliance and the plan to bring down Kaidou for the rest of the crew.

Back on the island, Doflamingo readies a finishing blow against the fallen Smoker. Before it can land, Kuzan appears and asks the Warlord to step aside, calling Smoker his friend.

Adapted from Chapter 698, the episode adds a relaxed scene of the crew aboard the Sunny, Franky recounting how he recovered the ship and the Mini Merry, and Kin'emon and Momonosuke sharing tea. Where the manga had Doflamingo slicing the Marines with strings, the anime has him force them to shoot each other and stomp a wounded soldier for information. The Smoker fight is given a real, brutal showdown, and the animation sharpens markedly during the clash and Kuzan's entrance. This also marks the first time the anime labels Doflamingo's power a Devil Fruit, and Robin, not Luffy, is the one who questions Law about the earlier snail call.
