With a Rumbling of the Ground - The God of Destruction, Giant Pica Descends

Unwilling to let Fujitora block him, Luffy sets Law on the ground, sheaths his arm in Busoshoku Haki, and charges the blind admiral with Zoro at his shoulder. Doflamingo, listening from the palace, catches the noise of the duel as Pica steps up to volunteer, offering to erase every intruder single-handedly. Out in the rearranged streets, Robin's group keeps slipping past the freed slaves who chase their bounties, screened by Bartolomeo and Hack. Robin works out that the shifting terrain has parked the Colosseum right beside the royal plateau, which lets the scattered allies converge. The clash with the admiral breaks off the moment Pica hauls his bulk out of the landscape and rears over Dressrosa as a vast golem.

Pica's boast collapses the instant he opens his mouth, because the squeak of his voice breaks one subordinate who cannot smother a laugh. In no rush, Doflamingo reasons that his rigged game will swing the people behind his family rather than the Rikus. When the soldier finally cracks and laughs aloud, every executive turns toward him, and as Pica moves to seal him in stone, Baby 5 shoots first, knocking the man clear off the plateau and sparing him the giant's wrath. Doflamingo then bares his history: motherless at eight, his own father's killer at ten, with only his executives left to him as kin, and he warns that mockery of his family is something he will never abide.

Towering above the fighters, Pica vows to flatten any soul that defies his family, but that ridiculous squeak tips Luffy into laughter he cannot control and drives the colossus into a rage. Both Zoro and Law beg him to quit while choking down grins of their own, and the panicked citizens scatter. Issho feels some calamity brewing yet cannot name it. Down comes the colossal fist, cracking buildings to pieces and flinging the pirates high into the air.

The episode belongs to the Dressrosa Arc. Fujitora's rematch with the pair of Straw Hats stretches longer than in print, where Zoro alone crossed blades with the admiral, whereas the broadcast lets Luffy join the assault. Baby 5's shot at the snickering soldier was explosive on the page but rendered as gatling fire here, introducing her Gatling Girl technique. Among the added beats are the dwarves twice fumbling Usopp mid-applause, Hack scrapping with Dressrosa rogues, Viola turning her Devil Fruit toward finding where the cuff key for Law sat, a save of Rebecca from bounty hunters by Tank Lepanto, and Luffy tripping as he flees. One background subordinate even wears a mask nodding to Avatar: The Last Airbender.
