Chapter 1091

The assault opens as Marines unload on the Pacifista while the Sea Beast Weapons overturn and destroy several ships, pulling the Vice Admirals into the fray. Baffled that an attack would come with Sentomaru on guard, the Straw Hats deduce that Kizaru was sent specifically to take him out. Vegapunk apologizes to Sentomaru for the lopsided matchup and offers to let him run. Instead, Kizaru kicks him far off and rains down a barrage of light beams called Yasakani no Magatama, pressing him to give up. Axe in hand, Sentomaru refuses, having promised the Straw Hats he would hold the line, and declares he will back whoever helps Vegapunk get away safely. A flashback shows Vegapunk and Borsalino first taking on the young Sentomaru after he thrashed some bears, hiring him as a bodyguard in return for good pay and all the onigiri he could eat.

In the present, Sentomaru connects with Ashigara Palm, but Kizaru shrugs it off and blasts him to the ground, then claims his command chip and turns the Pacifista against the Sea Beast Weapons to guard the Marines. With the dome team still working, Vegapunk notes that Kizaru, being formed of light, passes through the laser barrier without resistance and trips the alarm. As Luffy's group races toward the island's far end, Lucci strikes at Vegapunk, only for Stussy to fling herself in the path and take the hit. Sanji traps Kaku in a bubble, and Zoro blocks Lucci's next blow, calling him a coward before shoving him off the lab. Kizaru reaches the Vegaforce-01 and is met by Luffy, who kicks at him and boasts that his crew has grown a hundred times stronger since Sabaody.

This Egghead Arc chapter draws on SBS Volume 106 for the tale of how Kizaru first encountered and trained Sentomaru. With Nami's bubble gun, Sanji locks Kaku away in seastone. Zoro and Lucci launch themselves off the laboratory together as they fight. The cover is a color spread of the Straw Hats, missing Robin and Franky, eating pizza alongside two flamingos.
