Chapter 307

With the terms made clear, where champions earn a celebration and losers meet the cold sea, the lap around the island gets underway. The objective stays plain, a single circuit of the land, and any weapon is permitted. Each side carries an Eternal Pose so neither can drift off course. As soon as the start sounds, Foxy's people, hidden among the watching crowd, pour gunfire onto the Straw Hats' little vessel, the Barrel Tiger, and a huge boulder drops from above, narrowly outrun by Usopp's frantic rowing.

Sanji unloads his anger on several Foxy crewmen for going after Nami and Robin, while Capote uses Sea Splitter, a Fish-Man Karate move, to throw their boat off balance. Usopp fires a Certain Death Fire Star that proves useless, so Robin pins one foe with her Eight-Wheel Fleur and flips him onto Monda. Trailing the Cutie Wagon and bickering with his teammates, Usopp abruptly surges the boat past Porche and Capote, then admits he tapped an Impact Dial for the boost. Robin's chain of hands seizes Capote and yanks him under, tearing off the front of the craft.

This opening round, the Donut Race, formally gets going as the contest's first event. Both teams receive an Eternal Pose against getting lost, and the Foxy Pirates ambush the Straw Hat boat from within the audience using gunfire and a plummeting boulder. To help his team pull ahead, Usopp brings out an Impact Dial that rockets the Barrel Tiger forward. Robin then drags Capote into the water, snapping the bow off in the process. Nami urges another Dial blast as their only path to winning, while Porche resolves to sink the boat outright.

The Animal Theater cover finds Sanji stuck inside on a snowy night, churning out one love-letter rewrite after another while his rabbit housemates remain thoroughly unimpressed. By the chapter's close the racers approach the toughest stretch ahead, the Long Coral area, the Long Whirlpool, and the Long Cape, where Foxy is seen riding Hamburg along the shore and boasting of a very naughty idea.
