Chapter 384

Stranded in Oimo's hair after missing the king bull, Sogeking talks the towering shipwright out of his grief. Oimo and his partner Kashii have spent fifty years guarding Enies Lobby believing the work would buy their captains' freedom from Impel Down. Sogeking recognizes the names and tells the giant the whole arrangement was a fabrication, since the Straw Hats met those very captains not long ago.

The rescue force keeps charging forward and runs into trouble. Relief arrives when the giants, no longer fooled, switch sides and turn their fury on the soldiers who deceived them.

Oimo explains that he and Kashii once sailed under the same flag as Dorry and Brogy. After their captains vanished into a duel, Marines captured the pair and claimed the two were jailed in Impel Down, promising release in exchange for a century of guard duty. Sogeking dismantles the story, naming Dorry and Brogy and offering details of their weapons and laughter as proof.

Inside the courthouse, the three-headed Baskerville berates his beaten soldiers and orders the Guilty Jury released despite warnings that the city could be wrecked. Kokoro phones Nami to explain that levers in the towers flanking the drawbridge must be pulled to reach the Tower of Justice, and Chimney reports a fight raging on the courthouse roof. The Franky Family resolves to split and lower the bridge, but Gomorrah is brought down by chained iron balls, cutting the crew off again. Roused at last, Oimo and Kashii rampage against the troops who lied to them.

This chapter establishes that the gate giants belong to the same crew as the Little Garden pair and reveals the elaborate deception keeping them in service. The cover continues the Baroque Works side story, with Mr. 3's escape interrupted by a shadowed stranger. Gomorrah is defeated, and Franky needles Robin from the Tower of Justice about being lucky to have friends willing to storm the stronghold.
