Island of Carnage

Inside Capone Bege, soldiers ready cannons and lower drawbridges for cavalry. The Marines surrounding him are stunned to see troops pour from his body, and the tiny cannonballs swell to full size once clear of him, hammering the besiegers as Bege boasts of military strength beyond theirs. At Grove 24, Urouge runs into a Pacifista and gripes about his luck so near Marine Headquarters. Nearby, Basil Hawkins coolly ignores Kizaru's warnings and keeps reading his fortune.

Kizaru asks Hawkins about Sentomaru, gets brushed off, then declares his boredom and asks whether the rookie has ever been kicked at light speed before booting him through a building. As a distant pirate at Grove 27 collapses for no clear reason, Kizaru blasts a laser into the same building, delighting Scratchmen Apoo. Hawkins then strolls out unscathed, explaining that two straw voodoo dolls absorbed the harm, and warns that ten bodies are too few to face an Admiral.

Urouge flies down the street praising the Pacifista's power, then realizes he is boxed in between a Warlord and an Admiral. Hawkins tells him he sees no death upon him. X Drake arrives, sinks a four-headed axe into the Pacifista, and is named by Kizaru as a former rear admiral. As Drake claims he never meant to cross paths with the Admiral, Urouge triggers his ability and swells to match the Pacifista in size.

At Grove 12, the Straw Hats meet another Pacifista. Sanji braces for a shockwave, but it fires a laser at Luffy, who dodges as he and Chopper marvel at the beam. Recognizing the attacker as the foe who struck the crew on Thriller Bark, Franky launches a Coup de Vent that sends it flying, and Luffy shifts into Gear 2, the crew following his lead.

The cover shows the CP9 team bowling, with Kalifa demolishing the pins to celebrate Lucci's release. The chapter confirms several powers in quick succession: Bege's human-fortress fruit, Kizaru's light-speed movement, Hawkins's damage-transferring straw dolls, Urouge's size growth, and X Drake's past rank as a Marine rear admiral. Sentomaru is introduced, watching from atop a building with a battleaxe and griping that Kizaru is running late.
