Admiral Akainu

The Marines reel that Marco shrugged off Kizaru's attack and remains standing, trading rumors about his ability. Kizaru notes that a Mythical Zoan is more fearsome than a Logia as Marco assumes the shape of a phoenix, dives in, shifts to a hybrid form, and kicks the admiral to the ground. Unharmed, Kizaru orders the Marine Giant Squad to ready for aerial assault.

Whitebeard's crew braces for the giants, and Jozu hoists an enormous slab of iceberg large enough to bury the entire squad. Akainu, scolding the Marines for failing to defend Marineford, vaporizes the iceberg with a magma fist and rains molten projectiles on the pirates, sinking one of Whitebeard's ships. The Emperor, still atop the Moby Dick's masthead, catches a flaming rock on his naginata and trades grim jabs with Akainu about funerals and birthday cakes.

Marco's Devil Fruit is revealed as the Mythical Zoan phoenix, and Akainu's as a magma-based power that overwhelms Jozu's ice. As fighting spreads across the bay, the gigantic Little Oars Jr., a descendant of Oars, looms over Marineford under Whitebeard's banner. Moria cackles at the sight, eager to claim the corpse, while Doflamingo laughs that things have grown interesting.

Chopper's cover story ends as he slips away from the natives amid a fight with giant birds. Akainu's face is shown clearly for the first time, and Onigumo is glimpsed from behind with spider-like features hinting at his powers. The chapter, excluding its title page, is the only one in the series so far composed entirely of double-page spreads.
