Summary

Big Mom shrugs off the captive Luffy's loud defiance, far more occupied with the rewards waiting tomorrow, namely Germa 66, the Tamatebako, and a slice of wedding cake. Her good humor collapses the instant a signal warns her that an intruder has breached the vault holding her treasures, and she rages over whether the trespasser wants her Tamatebako. The break-in is in fact two operations at once. Pedro cuts down the vault's guards, then sprints through the halls felling more soldiers, running along a wall under gunfire before hurling a bomb that bursts among them. Brook, the second intruder, slips past Smoothie, locks himself inside the treasure room, and faces the Chess Soldiers, whose homie souls buckle when he plays his guitar and lets his own soul blaze.

In a guest room, Sanji paces and forces himself to accept the wedding so his friends will not be killed, trying to anchor his thoughts on how much he loves Pudding and his wish to make her happy. Pudding, parting from an attendant mid-conversation, recalls Lola leaving Whole Cake Island years before with the promise that family would never let Big Mom kill her and that she could decide her own marriage. Pudding then enters the Prisoner Library and asks Opera to admit her to Luffy and Nami's cell. Once inside, she apologizes for her siblings' attacks and for failing to reach the coast, declares the wedding to Sanji off, whispers something that stuns the two pirates, and steps away in tears to tell them goodbye.

Key Events

Another Charlotte sibling, Anglais, is introduced while reporting the intrusion. Brook draws Smoothie out, seals the treasure room from within, and, drawing on his Yomi Yomi no Mi soul power, overwhelms the Chess Soldier homies. Tamago instructs Smoothie that the skeleton must be captured without killing him, intending that he join Big Mom's collection alive. Pedro mounts his rampage as a deliberate distraction, and Tamago readies a trap to spring on him. Telling Luffy and Nami that the marriage is off, Pudding shares a secret with them before departing.

Notes

On the color spread cover, the crew wears red scarves and matching coats beside a huge red teddy bear set against a snow-covered forest. A flashback returns to Lola's departure from the island, where she assured Pudding that their family bond would protect her and that her marriage would be her own choice. The exact words Pudding whispers to Luffy and Nami are kept from the reader here.
