Appearance

Amane carries a lean, tall frame that reads older than his years, enough that Shishiba once doubted the boy was only fourteen. His hair is black and cropped, with short bangs across the forehead, and his eyes appear brown in the anime after being drawn blue on the page. He favors a loose white shirt marked with brown circles at the elbows, sleeves pushed up and held by dark brown suspenders on a silver buckle, worn over navy trousers and black sneakers.

Personality

Sensitive but hardened, Amane spent much of the story consumed by resentment, first toward the JAA and then toward the father he blamed for his mother's death, a grudge that later found peace. That anger made him blunt and defiant, so he skipped the JCC's lessons and warned his peers away from a disguised Sakamoto. Underneath, though, he proves genuinely decent, apologizing to his dormmates after wishing death on the whole JAA and forgetting that their own relatives served in it, and he grows visibly rattled at the thought of classmates dying. Having grown up almost entirely inside the academy, he is comically unversed in normal life, unsure what a cash register is and firing on a vending machine out of confusion. His intellect, by contrast, is sharp and coldly logical. He inherited his grandfather's photographic memory and drawing talent, absorbs languages with startling speed, and folds detailed knowledge of weapons and science into his tactics.

Abilities

Even as a student, Amane holds his own against a disguised Sakamoto. He moves fast enough to blur out of sight, snatching a keyring from the man mid-fall and trading blows with him by hand, while his reflexes let him lop off Club Jam's wrist before the assassin could bring his palms together. The keen memory and perception that run in his family let him catch tiny discrepancies in Sakamoto's disguise. His deadliest weapon may be his planning: fighting alongside Shishiba against Kumanomi and Carolina Reaper, he baited Carolina into spraying sparks until the air passed the Curie point, canceling Kumanomi's magnetism and opening the kill. He wields a white four-section staff tipped with a small blade, a design modeled on his father's weapon and handled with pinpoint control.
