Saiko replays her eventful day for Touma Higemaru at the Chateau, from the outing to Oasis to the moment she sprayed her drink on Koori Ui after Takeomi Kuroiwa suddenly proposed to Yoriko. When Higemaru asks whether the engagement interests Urie too, the shaken squad leader claims otherwise. In her hospital bed, a delighted Kiyoko Aura chats with Iwao Kuroiwa about his coming role as grandfather and about the ongoing hunt for Akira Mado, worrying that if Mutsuki's report of Akira sheltering Seidou is true, her late parents would be dismayed.

Keijin Nakarai later visits Kiyoko and updates her on the CCG's defenses, crediting Koori Ui rather than Matsuri for the troop deployments. Concerned about her nephew Shinsanpei's rage toward the One-Eyed King, she asks Keijin to watch over him and pass along a message, quietly wishing that both he and Koori had someone to love as Takeomi does.

In a corridor Koori and Furuta run into an irritated Matsuri, and a tense exchange over who holds the authority to sanction operations leaves Koori answerable for Furuta's calls and the mission's result. Elsewhere Kaneki organizes his people, pausing while Naki fusses over the buttonhole on his suit lapel until Tsukiyama explains it is for a boutonniere. Kaneki divides everyone into a Suits Group and a Lab Group, picking Ayato, Kurona, and Nishiki for the latter based on who can absorb a hit, then reassigns Seidou into the Lab Group in Nishiki's place at Seidou's request. He tasks Enji Koma with holding the base and places Yomo and Touka on communications, agreeing to speak privately with Touka afterward.

Outside, Yoriko asks Takeomi why he settled on her, and he passes along his father's counsel to marry a woman who cooks well before adding that he sees her as brave and genuinely kind. Moved, Yoriko longs to share the news with her friend Touka, and Takeomi offers to track her down, writing down the full name Yoriko provides. On February 9, Touka stands behind the :re counter as a broadcast reports the Clowns appearing at the Valentine's Day Fair, setting the stage for the coming clash.
