Inside a derelict structure in the 2nd ward, Touma Higemaru and Kuki Urie face Donato Porpora, who slices the young investigator's arm and drops him in agony. Donato needles them both, chipping away at their nerve until Urie starts to doubt himself. Urie tells Higemaru to flee and blocks the incoming kagune, but as he considers how to lock Donato back inside the Cochlea, the ghoul vanishes from view. His kagune then bursts through the ceiling and pins Urie in place, and Donato slowly and gleefully dismembers Higemaru, wrenching his arm away in a state of euphoria.

Twenty minutes after Goat reached the 22nd ward, Kaneki readies himself to move on the CCG lab, only for V agents to arrive in support of the organization and cut through his mask. Take Hirako warns Kaneki that they resemble a fully grown version of the 0 Squad. Falling into formation, the agents press an attack on Tsukiyama and Nishiki. Kaneki wounds several of them before Kaya Irimi tells him the group can manage and not to underestimate what Hinami and Miza can do.

Reassured, Kaneki excuses himself and leaves Tsukiyama in charge of the fight against the V operatives. Elsewhere Ayato Kirishima, Kurona Yasuhisa, and Seidou Takizawa steel themselves to breach the CCG lab, setting up the next stage of Goat's plan. The chapter fills 18 pages within the tenth collected volume of the series.
