Makoto Furukawa

Furukawa lent his voice to Studio Pierrot's anime adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul, joining a large ensemble cast during the early years of his career. The production came before he found breakout fame later in the decade, and it sits alongside a run of supporting and title parts he built up as he moved from newcomer to one of the industry's busier leading men. His work on the series fits the kind of steady ensemble casting many rising Japanese voice actors take on before landing signature roles.

Furukawa's breakout came as the deadpan hero Saitama in One-Punch Man, followed by the sharp-tongued student council president Miyuki Shirogane in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. His catalog also includes Golden Time's Banri Tada, Dr. Stone's Taiju Oki, the Red Rider Achilles from Fate/Apocrypha, Shaddiq Zenelli of the Witch from Mercury Gundam series, and Blue Lock's Tabito Karasu, alongside two separate takes on Sherlock Holmes for The Tale of the Outcasts and Moriarty the Patriot. Outside acting, he has built a parallel music career, debuting as a solo singer in 2018 under the Lantis label before later signing to Toy's Factory as a freelance artist.
