Setsuna Meiou / Sailor Pluto

Setsuna keeps most of her manga design, though her skin is rendered lighter here. Her very long dark green hair, glossy at the front, is half gathered into a high bun with the rest reaching her knees, and dangling red earrings sit beside dark red eyes. Her college attire is a pale violet blazer with black trim over a white blouse with a small red bow, a high-waisted skirt, and black heels, shifting to a maroon jacket and slacks in Sailor Stars.

As Sailor Pluto she wears a sleeveless white leotard with a maroon chest bow and a bright red gem, a stripeless black collar, a garnet-set gold tiara, red arrow earrings, and a black choker with a red bauble. White elbow gloves with black padding, a black skirt with a maroon back bow, and black knee boots complete it, while the Super form adds a longer back bow, a garnet heart, a single collar stripe, a starred choker, and a wing-like shoulder pad.

Guarding the door leaves Sailor Pluto profoundly lonely, unable to leave her post until Neo-Queen Serenity permits her to aid the outer guardians during the S season, when she takes the civilian name Setsuna Meiou and studies physics at K.O. University. She dreams of becoming a designer, grows close to Chibiusa, and later forms a deep bond with Hotaru Tomoe. In time she joins Haruka, Michiru, and Hotaru as an adoptive family sharing a home.

Sailor Pluto has kept the Door of Space and Time for millennia under three unbreakable rules: never leaving her post, never permitting time travel, and never disrupting time's flow, the last of which would cost her life. She first reaches the series in the second season, speaking to Chibiusa through Luna-P before appearing as a hologram to the guardians. She travels into Chibiusa's dream to help her, then guards the Time Door when the group passes through, warning them to stay together, and later reopens it to bring them home.

In the S season she joins the fight after Eudial steals the talismans, revealing that her Garnet Orb is the third and final one; together the trio summon the Holy Grail that lets Sailor Moon defeat Eudial. She afterward dies using her forbidden time-stopping power to save Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune from a helicopter explosion, appearing to Chibiusa as a projection to speak of Sailor Saturn's rebirth as the infant Hotaru. She features mainly as Sailor Pluto in the SuperS movie, and in Sailor Stars she returns with baby Hotaru and is upgraded to Crystal Power before being killed and having her Star Seed taken, later revived by Princess Serenity once Chaos is expelled from Galaxia.
