Assault (Chapter)

Falco crawls out of the wreckage where Eren revealed himself and discovers Reiner unconscious, half emerged from a partial transformation that shielded them both. Because Reiner no longer wants to live, his body refuses to heal, so Falco runs for help. In the plaza, Mikasa's Thunder Spear bounces off the crystal encasing Lara Tybur, and Eren fares no better; the Attack Titan's teeth shatter against a barrier that reminds him of Annie's cocoon. He abandons his steaming body and instantly forms a fresh one, prompting Pieck to warn that the Warriors must fight cautiously since Marleyan troops have sealed every escape route.

Zeke stuns his comrades by announcing that his true opponent is Levi rather than Eren, daring the captain to show himself. Falco reaches Magath with news of Reiner's condition just as Gabi learns Eren caused the disaster. At the harbor, a hooded fisherman reveals himself as Armin and transforms, and the Colossus Titan's detonation vaporizes the warships preparing to sail. Realizing Bertolt is dead, Galliard charges the Attack Titan in a fury, only for Mikasa to drive him back.

Levi answers Zeke's challenge from the Beast Titan's own neck, carving open the nape and dropping a bomb inside before swinging clear. With Marley's forces reeling, Jean leads a squadron against the Cart Titan while Sasha picks off one of its Panzer gunners. Jean detonates a Thunder Spear inside Pieck's eye slot, and a barrage from above kills the rest of her crew. As he moves in to finish her, Falco throws himself onto the Cart Titan's neck and pleads for the killing to end.

Falco finds a partially transformed, unconscious Reiner and deduces that a Titan holder's will to live governs how quickly they regenerate.

Both Mikasa's Thunder Spear and Eren's bite fail against the War Hammer Titan's crystal, so Eren generates a second Titan body.

Armin transforms into the Colossus Titan at the harbor, obliterating Marley's approaching battleships.

Levi ambushes the Beast Titan, slicing its nape open and detonating explosives inside it.

Jean's squadron and Sasha cripple the Cart Titan and wipe out its Panzer Unit before Falco interrupts the killing blow.

Assault opens volume 26 as the 103rd chapter of Hajime Isayama's manga, released in Japan on March 9, 2018. It continues the Marley arc, following Too Little, Too Late and leading into Victors, and the anime adapts it in an episode of the same name.
