Death Game! The Missing Classmate

Rushing to Karakura High School, Ichigo Kurosaki and his companions find his body and Renji Abarai's Gigai abandoned in the courtyard and climb back inside them. Ririn then appears alongside Noba with a ticking clock and lays out a new challenge: one of the group is a fake, and unless they identify the impostor before the clock strikes twelve, everyone on the campus will disappear forever. Suspicion immediately falls on Orihime and Sado, since Kurōdo could have swapped places while the two were captured earlier.

Uryū reasons that the skeletal gates lead to a boundless pocket dimension and that, unlike before, Ririn intends to make her captives vanish permanently. When ordinary classmates such as Keigo and Mizuiro wander in, the group is forced to keep up appearances and attend class, all the while eyeing one another with mounting distrust. Ichigo grows so paranoid that he wrestles Renji in a hallway trying to rip off his Gigai, drawing a scandalized crowd, before Uryū points out how reckless the assumption was given how little they know of Kurōdo's mimicry.

Ririn escalates by abducting Tatsuki Arisawa from the girls' bathroom, leaving only her wristband behind, which shatters Orihime's composure and turns the friends against each other in a round of finger-pointing. In Soul Society, Ukitake bars all passage into the Human World and shutters the Senkaimon, though Suì-Fēng slips through at the last second at Yoruichi's summons. As the deadline nears, students across the school vanish in waves during gym class, deepening the panic.

The break comes when Suì-Fēng and Yoruichi scale the building and Suì-Fēng shatters a window. Ichigo notices Sado reacting with fear and describing Suì-Fēng as merely a strong woman, and realizes the real Sado, having never visited Soul Society, would not know that Yoruichi takes a cat's form there. He names Sado as the fraud, and the figure reverts to Kurōdo. Yet the victory is hollow: Ririn reveals that since Kurōdo was posing as Sado, the true Sado is still in their custody, and the game is not over.

Ririn announces a game requiring Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends to find the impostor Kurōdo before a deadline or lose everyone at the school. Uryū works out what the skeletal gates truly are and how lethal the stakes have become. Ririn abducts Tatsuki Arisawa, and later many students, to pressure the group. Ukitake seals the Senkaimon, though Suì-Fēng crosses at the last moment. Ichigo exposes Kurōdo by catching him unaware that Yoruichi assumes a cat's shape in the Human World. Ririn then reveals the real Sado remains captured, prolonging the ordeal.

The installment is an anime-only episode of the Bount arc with no corresponding manga chapter, centered on the Mod Souls' training games. A noted animation error depicts the handle of Ukitake's Zanpakutō at roughly twice its usual length. The Shinigami Illustrated Picture Book segment shows Ukitake handing all his snacks and candy to a puzzled Hitsugaya after explaining why the Senkaimon is being closed.
