Role in the Story

Appule serves under Frieza during the invasion of Planet Namek, acting as a support officer who monitors the healing tanks and relays battlefield intelligence. He is assigned to watch over Vegeta while the Saiyan prince recovers in a medical pod after his defeat at the hands of Zarbon. This proves to be a fatal mistake, as Vegeta awakens with a significant power boost and eliminates Appule without difficulty.

Despite his relatively brief screen time, Appule is one of the more recognizable rank-and-file soldiers in Frieza's organization due to his distinctive purple skin and reptilian features. He represents the vast middle layer of the Frieza Force: soldiers who possess some intelligence and modest power but are entirely disposable in the eyes of their tyrannical overlord.
