Biography and Story Role

Cargo lived peacefully in a village on Planet Namek alongside his brother Dende and the elder Moori. His quiet life was shattered when Frieza and his forces arrived to collect the Namekian Dragon Balls. Cargo witnessed several Namekian warriors put up a valiant fight against Frieza's soldiers, only to be brutally killed by Dodoria.

When Moori ordered Cargo and Dende to flee, Cargo was struck down by a surprise blast before he could escape. In the manga, Frieza fired the Death Beam that killed him; in the anime, it was Dodoria's Energy Cannon. Either way, Cargo died instantly, making his death one of the most emotionally impactful moments of the Namek Saga.

Cargo was later brought back to life when Mr. Popo wished on Shenron to revive everyone killed by Frieza and his men. He then traveled to Earth along with the other surviving Namekians via Porunga's wish, and eventually relocated to New Namek. His name is a pun on "escargot," the French word for snail.
