History and Role

Monaito lived peacefully alongside other Namekians and the native Cerealians on Planet Cereal. Forty years before the present storyline, the Saiyan army, under orders from Frieza, invaded the planet and wiped out nearly everyone. Monaito was the sole Namekian survivor and was entrusted with the two Cerealian Dragon Balls.

During the invasion, Monaito encountered Bardock, who unexpectedly chose to protect a young Granolah and his mother Muezli. When Elec of the Heeter family killed Muezli, Bardock fought to give Monaito and Granolah a chance to escape. Monaito used the Cerealian Dragon Balls to summon Toronbo and, at Bardock's request, wished for his sons to thrive.

In the present day, Monaito lives in a remote mountain home with Granolah. He disapproves of Granolah's obsessive desire for revenge against Frieza and is dismayed when Granolah steals the Dragon Balls to wish for power at the cost of his remaining lifespan. Monaito eventually reveals the truth about Bardock's role in saving Granolah, which forces Granolah to reconsider his hatred of all Saiyans.
