Pikkon is a powerful warrior from the West Galaxy who appears exclusively in the anime-only Other World storyline. Having died and earned a place training under the West Kai, Pikkon is widely considered the strongest fighter in the Other World outside of the main cast and serves as Goku's primary rival during the Other World Tournament.
Pikkon was introduced during the filler arc between the Cell Saga and the Buu Saga, when Goku was training in the Other World after his death during the Cell Games. The Grand Kai organized a tournament among the greatest fighters from all four quadrants of the galaxy, and Pikkon quickly established himself as the standout warrior from the West.
Before the tournament even began, Pikkon demonstrated his extraordinary abilities by single-handedly defeating the villains who had escaped from Hell, including Cell, Frieza, King Cold, and the Ginyu Force. He dispatched all of them with remarkable speed and efficiency, accomplishing in moments what had taken the Z Fighters entire sagas to achieve. While these were likely weaker versions of the villains, the feat still established Pikkon as an elite-level combatant.
During the tournament itself, Pikkon fought his way to the finals, where he faced Goku. Their battle was intense and closely matched, with both fighters showcasing techniques and power levels that impressed even the Kais. The match ended in a double ring-out, with both fighters crashing through the ceiling of the arena simultaneously. Grand Kai ruled it a draw, though both fighters clearly relished the competition.
Pikkon's signature technique is the Thunder Flash Attack, a powerful energy wave released from both hands that creates a fiery inferno capable of overwhelming even the strongest opponents. He also uses Hyper Tornado, a spinning maneuver that generates a powerful vortex of wind and energy around his body, both trapping and damaging anyone caught within it.
Unlike many powerful fighters introduced in Dragon Ball, Pikkon is calm, composed, and shows little interest in glory or dominance. He fights with purpose and discipline, treating combat as a serious endeavor rather than a source of excitement. This temperament made him a natural rival for Goku, whose enthusiasm for fighting is boundless; the contrast between Pikkon's stoicism and Goku's joy in battle gave their interactions a distinctive quality.
Though Pikkon is not part of the canon manga continuity, he remains popular among fans for his design, his impressive showings, and the potential he represented as a rival for Goku. His existence suggested that the universe contained powerful fighters beyond those on Earth and in the known galaxies, a concept that later canon stories like the Tournament of Power would explore in much greater depth.
