Vegito

Character

Vegito is the Potara fusion of Goku and Vegeta, created by combining the two Saiyans through the Supreme Kai's mystical earrings. As one of the most powerful characters ever to appear in Dragon Ball, Vegito has been deployed only in the most desperate circumstances, against threats so overwhelming that neither Goku nor Vegeta could handle them alone.

Biography and Story Role

Vegito first appeared during the climax of the Buu Saga, when Super Buu had absorbed Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks, becoming the most powerful version of the creature. With no other options available, the Elder Kai gave Goku the Potara earrings and explained that fusing with another warrior would create a permanent combined being of immense power. Goku convinced Vegeta to wear the earring, and Vegito was born.

Against Buuhan, Vegito demonstrated power so far beyond his opponent that the battle was never in doubt. Rather than ending the fight immediately, Vegito deliberately toyed with Buu, using the fight as an opportunity to provoke Buu into absorbing him. This was a calculated plan: once inside Buu's body, the fusion barrier would be disrupted, allowing Goku and Vegeta to separate and rescue their absorbed friends. The plan worked, though it relied on a risky gamble that Buu's internal environment would break the Potara bond.

Vegito returned in Dragon Ball Super during the Future Trunks Saga, where Goku and Vegeta fused again to fight Merged Zamasu. This time, Vegito achieved Super Saiyan Blue, a transformation of such power that it shook the entire landscape. However, the retconned rules of the Potara revealed that the fusion was no longer permanent for mortal users, lasting only about an hour. The immense energy output of Super Saiyan Blue drained the fusion even faster, and Vegito defused before he could finish Zamasu off.

Abilities and Personality

Vegito's power is the multiplicative product of Goku and Vegeta's individual strengths, amplified further by the Potara earrings' magical properties. He possesses all the techniques of both fusees, including the Kamehameha, Galick Gun, and Instant Transmission. His signature attack is the Final Kamehameha, a combination of Vegeta's Final Flash and Goku's Kamehameha that produces a devastating beam of energy.

Another distinctive technique is the Spirit Sword, an energy blade formed from ki that Vegito used to slice through Buuhan's body. He can also fire rapid energy volleys and create barriers with minimal effort. In Super Saiyan Blue, Vegito's power output reached levels that rivaled fused deities.

Vegito's personality blends Goku's playfulness with Vegeta's arrogance, resulting in a cocky, talkative fighter who loves to humiliate his opponents. He is notoriously prone to showboating, a trait that has cost him strategic advantage in both of his major appearances. Despite this, Vegito is undeniably effective when he chooses to fight seriously. His combination of intelligence, power, and technique makes him perhaps the single strongest mortal warrior in the Dragon Ball universe during the moments he exists.
