Kamehameha vs. Kamehameha

The finals open with Goku playfully taunting Jackie Chun, who nearly blows his cover by scolding Goku for disrespecting his teacher. When Goku asks if Jackie Chun is related to Master Roshi, Jackie quickly claims to be Roshi's cousin. The banter ends when both fighters charge their Kamehameha waves simultaneously. The two beams collide in the center of the ring, lighting up the entire arena in the series' first energy clash. When the dust settles, both fighters stand unharmed.

Afterimage Warfare

Jackie Chun escalates with a Double Afterimage Technique, tricking Goku into punching empty air before kicking him into the wall. Goku one-ups him with a Triple Afterimage, leaving three phantom copies of himself while he attacks from above. The blow lands cleanly, proving that Goku can adapt and improve on techniques in real time.

Drunken Fist Meets Crazy Monkey

Jackie Chun shifts into the Drunken Fist style, swaying unpredictably and landing hits that Goku cannot block. Goku answers with his own improvised technique, the Crazy Monkey Attack, crawling on all fours, using his tail to trip Jackie Chun, and brawling with wild abandon. As the fight reaches a stalemate, Jackie Chun begins gathering energy for an unknown and potentially devastating next move.

Clashing Creativity

The Kamehameha collision is a landmark moment, the first energy beam clash in Dragon Ball history. Both fighters launching the same signature technique at each other sets the tone for every beam struggle that follows across the entire franchise. The visual spectacle of the arena bathed in blue light is striking.

Improvisation as Weapon

The Afterimage escalation and the Drunken Fist vs. Crazy Monkey exchange showcase what makes this fight special. Neither combatant relies on raw power alone. Jackie Chun counters technique with technique, and Goku responds with pure instinct. The fight becomes a chess match wrapped in martial arts comedy.

First of Its Kind

This episode contains the first energy clash in Dragon Ball, a concept that becomes one of the franchise's most iconic visual signatures. It is also the first fight in the anime to span multiple episodes, signaling the shift toward longer, more complex battles. Jackie Chun's accidental slip about being Goku's teacher and his improvised "cousin" story add humor while tightening the suspense around his identity.
