A World Freed, A Mission Born

News of King Piccolo's defeat spreads rapidly, and celebration erupts across the globe. Yajirobe brings the injured Goku back to Korin Tower, where the cat hermit delivers grim news: the Eternal Dragon Shenron is dead, killed by Piccolo after granting his wish. Worse still, those killed by King Piccolo and his offspring do not pass on to the afterlife. They are trapped in a state of limbo, suffering endlessly unless they are revived by the Dragon Balls.

The Search for the Power Pole

Korin reveals that the Dragon Balls were created by Kami, the Guardian of Earth, who resides in a temple far above Korin Tower. To reach Kami, Goku needs his Power Pole. He returns to the ruins of Central City, where he encounters King Furry and a swarm of reporters. Fortuneteller Baba, offering her services for free since Goku saved the world, tells him the Power Pole is at Kame House. Goku retrieves it from Launch, who had been using it as a broom, and flies back to Korin Tower to begin his ascent.

Seeds of Vengeance

While Goku searches for his Power Pole, an elderly couple discovers King Piccolo's egg by a river and brings it home. The egg hatches, and the newborn Piccolo Jr. wastes no time. He burns their house to the ground and declares his intention to avenge his father by destroying Goku. This small, violent creature carries the full weight of his father's hatred.

Gathering the Stones

Despite Shenron being dead, Bulma had the foresight to collect the Dragon Balls, which are now just inert stones. The group holds on to them, hoping that someday a way to revive the dragon will be found. Tien recovers alongside the others at Kame House, and the fighters begin to look ahead.

Between Two Arcs

This episode bridges the King Piccolo Saga and the Piccolo Jr. Saga. It introduces the concept of Kami as the creator of the Dragon Balls and establishes the Power Pole as the physical link between Korin Tower and the Lookout above. The hatching of Piccolo Jr. immediately establishes the next major threat, ensuring there is no true peace after the demon king's fall.
