The Demon King Returns

The Super Kamehameha devastates the arena complex, and for a tense moment Piccolo is nowhere to be seen. Then his silhouette appears in the sky, battered and furious, with his turban and much of his clothing scorched away. Launch comments that he resembles the original King Piccolo, and Piccolo seizes the moment to announce to the world that he is, in fact, King Piccolo reincarnated. Panic erupts as every spectator stampedes for the exits, leaving only Goku, his friends, and the stunned announcer behind.

The emptied arena works in Goku's favor since he no longer needs to protect innocent bystanders. Word of Piccolo's return spreads across the globe, reaching even King Furry at his castle. Piccolo concentrates his energy and transforms into a towering giant, attempting to crush Goku under his massive form. Despite the enormous size difference, Goku remains competitive, dodging stomps and landing blows that stagger the giant. Tien Shinhan offers to help, but Goku insists the tournament rules still apply and he intends to win within them. Piccolo shoots Goku's knee with a blast, causing him to stumble, but Goku recovers and flips the giant Piccolo over. To prove that bigger is better, Piccolo grows even larger, and Goku's friends finally retreat to a safe distance.

Giant Among Giants

Piccolo's public identity reveal triggers mass panic and transforms the tournament from a sporting event into a battle for the planet. The news reaching King Furry connects the current fight to the worldwide terror of King Piccolo's original reign. Piccolo's giant transformation is meant to be an overwhelming advantage, but Goku refuses to be intimidated, landing attacks on the giant's eyes and dodging crushing footsteps. Goku's insistence that tournament rules still apply, even with a world-threatening demon in the ring, shows his unwavering competitive spirit. The escalation from large to even larger only makes Piccolo a bigger target.

A World Watches in Fear

This is the last episode in the original Dragon Ball based on manga material; everything that follows is anime-original filler. Piccolo's public reveal connects the Piccolo Jr. Saga back to the terror of the King Piccolo arc and raises the stakes to a global level. The Great Namekian transformation previews Namekian abilities explored further in Dragon Ball Z. Launch's question about whether growing giant is against the rules adds a touch of humor to an otherwise dire situation.
