Vegeta and Nappa emerge from their pods and obliterate East City. The Z Fighters sense the monstrous energy and converge on the battlefield as Nappa plants six Saibamen seeds in the soil.
Vegeta and Nappa step out of their space pods in the smoking crater that was once the center of East City. The terrified civilians who approach are met with swift, merciless destruction as Nappa wipes out a large section of the city with a single explosive wave. The Saiyans use their scouters to search for the highest power levels on the planet, locking onto Piccolo and Gohan.
Across the world, the Z Fighters sense the overwhelming energy and begin making their way toward the battlefield. Piccolo and Gohan are the first to confront the invaders at Paprika Wasteland. Krillin arrives shortly after, steeling his nerves against the terrifying power he can feel radiating from the two Saiyans.
Vegeta recognizes Piccolo as a Namekian and deduces the connection to the Dragon Balls. Rather than fight immediately, Nappa plants six mysterious seeds in the barren soil and waters them with a strange liquid. From the ground, six Saibamen sprout, each possessing a power level comparable to Raditz. The stage is set for the first phase of the battle for Earth.
Nappa levels a portion of East City moments after arrival, establishing the Saiyans as a threat beyond anything Earth has faced. The Z Fighters converge on Paprika Wasteland, where Vegeta identifies Piccolo as a Namekian and connects him to the Dragon Balls.
Six Saibamen are grown from seeds planted in the soil, each carrying a power level on par with Raditz. Vegeta proposes a series of one-on-one fights, and the defenders accept, hoping to buy time for Goku's return from Snake Way.
This episode marks the first time Piccolo's Namekian heritage is identified by another character, a revelation that will drive the entire next arc of the series. Vegeta's interest in the Dragon Balls through Piccolo plants the seed for the journey to Namek.
