Vegeta ambushes Dodoria after he separates from Frieza and Zarbon. The panicked henchman reveals the truth about Planet Vegeta's destruction at Frieza's hands, but Vegeta, unmoved by the revelation, executes him with a single blast.
Dodoria's massive blast obliterates the landscape where Gohan, Krillin, and Dende were hiding, but the three manage to escape just in time. Convinced his targets are dead, Dodoria heads back toward Frieza's location. Along the way, he grumbles about how difficult it will be to find the remaining Dragon Balls without scouters, even considering blowing up the entire planet out of frustration.
Before he can rejoin his comrades, Vegeta intercepts him. The Saiyan prince has been waiting patiently for exactly this moment: Dodoria alone, separated from both Frieza and Zarbon. Vegeta crushes Dodoria's borrowed scouter underfoot, then reveals that his power has grown substantially since his battle with Cui. He no longer needs scouters because he can sense energy directly. Dodoria fires a desperate barrage of blasts, but when the smoke clears, Vegeta appears behind him and locks his arms in a painful hold.
With no way to fight back, Dodoria resorts to bargaining. He offers to reveal the truth about Planet Vegeta's destruction if Vegeta spares him. The prince releases his grip and listens. Dodoria explains that Frieza, not a meteor shower, annihilated the Saiyan homeworld. The tyrant feared that the Saiyans were growing too powerful and might one day challenge his rule, so he wiped them out along with King Vegeta. Dodoria adds that Vegeta should be grateful Frieza kept him alive at all.
Vegeta absorbs this confirmation of what he had long suspected, but his reaction surprises Dodoria. The prince declares he no longer cares about his planet, his father, or his dead race. What enrages him is the years he spent cowering under Frieza's control. Dodoria seizes the moment to flee, rocketing into the sky and screaming for Frieza. Vegeta does not hesitate, launching a single devastating energy wave that obliterates the pink henchman in midair.
Vegeta's reaction to learning the truth about his homeworld is one of the defining moments of his early characterization. A lesser story would have the prince swear revenge for his fallen people. Instead, Vegeta dismisses the entire Saiyan race, his father included, as irrelevant. His anger is personal and selfish: he resents being manipulated, not the genocide itself. This moral complexity is precisely what makes Vegeta compelling. He is no hero avenging a lost civilization; he is a tyrant in training, furious that a bigger tyrant kept him on a leash.
Dodoria's attempt at negotiation also reveals how Frieza's empire functions. Information is currency, loyalty is transactional, and the moment power shifts, even longtime enforcers will sell out their master's secrets to survive. It does not save Dodoria, but it plants seeds that will bear fruit much later in the saga.
Dodoria's death marks the first real crack in Frieza's power structure on Namek. Until this point, the tyrant's forces have operated with total impunity. Vegeta shattering that illusion sets the tone for the escalating three-way conflict between Frieza, Vegeta, and the Earth fighters that defines the Namek Saga. Each faction is now competing for the Dragon Balls with increasingly desperate tactics.
Meanwhile, Bulma learns from her father that Goku is en route and will arrive in six days. This detail serves as the saga's ticking clock. Every battle, every scheme, and every narrow escape from this point forward happens under the weight of that countdown.
