Out of conventional options, Goku resorts to his ultimate technique: the Spirit Bomb. Drawing energy from neighboring worlds due to Namek's depleted resources, he struggles to gather enough power while Piccolo sacrifices himself to buy time against an increasingly suspicious Frieza.
Goku arrives at a sobering conclusion. Even the Kaio-ken at its highest multiplier cannot bridge the gap between himself and Frieza, who remains at only half his maximum strength. With no other technique capable of defeating the tyrant, Goku turns to the Spirit Bomb, a massive energy sphere formed by borrowing life force from surrounding organisms.
Planet Namek presents a significant problem for this strategy. The devastation caused by Frieza and his forces has left the world nearly barren of the living energy the technique requires. Goku compensates by reaching out to neighboring star systems, pulling energy from distant planets and their inhabitants to fuel the attack.
The Spirit Bomb demands intense concentration and both arms raised overhead, leaving Goku completely defenseless during its formation. Frieza grows agitated, unable to determine what Goku is planning. Piccolo steps forward to engage the tyrant directly, absorbing what little energy Gohan and Krillin can spare to boost his fighting power for the stalling effort.
Piccolo's intervention is brave but doomed from the start. He knows full well that he cannot defeat Frieza; his only goal is to keep the tyrant distracted long enough for Goku to complete the Spirit Bomb. The Namekian warrior absorbs a savage beating, enduring blow after blow while refusing to stay down.
Frieza eventually overwhelms Piccolo completely and prepares to deliver a killing strike. Above them, the Spirit Bomb continues to grow, swelling with borrowed energy from across the cosmos. The timing could not be tighter as Goku nears completion of his final trump card while his ally teeters on the edge of death.
The Spirit Bomb represents a fascinating tactical choice. Unlike Goku's other attacks, it requires cooperation from the living world itself, turning the battle into something larger than a contest between two fighters. By drawing power from planets beyond Namek, Goku demonstrates the universal scale of the threat Frieza poses.
Piccolo's willingness to face certain defeat highlights the selfless bond among the Z Fighters. Each warrior understands their individual role in a team effort, even when that role demands absorbing punishment from the strongest being in the universe.
