Heart Medicine

The Heart Medicine was created in Future Trunks' timeline after researchers developed a cure for the heart virus that claimed Goku's life. Unfortunately, the cure came too late to save him in that timeline. When Future Trunks traveled to the past, he brought the medicine with him as one of his most critical objectives: ensuring Goku survived to help fight the Androids.

The medicine itself appeared in different forms throughout the series. It was initially depicted as pills, then later shown as a liquid. Goku noted that the label was purple, leading him to assume it was grape-flavored. In later episodes, the liquid appeared in varying colors, from yellowish to teal.

For a normal Earthling, the medicine requires about ten days of regular doses to fully eliminate the virus. Goku's Saiyan biology allowed him to recover somewhat faster. Piccolo raised concerns that the heart virus might be contagious and advised Yamcha to take some of the medicine as a precaution after he carried the stricken Goku home. The medicine does not produce instant results; patients continue experiencing painful symptoms during the recovery period before the drug fully suppresses the virus.
