With the tournament finished and the prize money already demolished by Goku's appetite, the group of friends huddles together on Papaya Island to decide what happens next. Paths diverge as Goku points his Kinto-Un toward the search for his grandfather's Dragon Ball and a new journey begins.
Jackie Chun accepts the 500,000 Zeni prize and is politely cheered on by Goku and Kuririn before he slips away from the stadium. Goku is barely finished waving goodbye when his stomach insists on being fed, and moments later Master Roshi steps out to join the gang, having secretly shed his disguise the instant he was out of sight. Bulma interrogates him about his whereabouts during the main event, and the old master brushes her off with a flimsy excuse about watching from the back row and using the bathroom when it ended. He congratulates both of his students on the quality of their matches and reminds them that the world is full of fighters stronger than either of them, insisting that the real training begins now.
As thanks for the spectacular fights, Roshi treats the group to a celebratory meal. Goku promptly inhales fifty seven full course dinners and the tab ends up swallowing nearly the entire prize, leaving the old man with a measly 30,000 Zeni after forking over 470,000. Full and content, the friends begin discussing what each of them plans to do now that the tournament is behind them. Goku announces that he wants to resume the hunt for his grandfather's Four-Star Ball, while Kuririn decides to stick around and continue training with Master Roshi, a choice that deflates the old man since he had been scheming to be alone with Lunch.
Bulma, Yamcha, Oolong, and Puar agree to head back to West City together. Before they part ways Bulma hands Goku the Dragon Radar, a parting gift that will make his search possible. Goku whistles for the Kinto-Un, hops aboard the golden cloud, and sails off into the distance as the others call out their farewells. The chapter closes on a minor disaster for the remaining travelers when Yamcha's van sputters to a halt, completely out of fuel, and Bulma realizes to her horror that she has misplaced the airplane capsule that would have saved them.
