Goku faces the towering King Chappa, a former tournament champion famed for winning his title without ever being touched. Chappa eight-armed technique stuns onlookers, but Goku turns the fight on its head with an aerial maneuver and a well-timed breath that leaves the turbaned master flat on the platform.
Yamcha watches Goku draw King Chappa as his preliminary opponent and grimly warns Krillin that this man is no ordinary brawler. Chappa once claimed a World Martial Arts Tournament championship without taking so much as a single blow for the entire competition, a feat that built a towering reputation among fighters across the planet. Even Jackie Chun, observing from the sidelines, mutters that Goku has landed himself in a difficult matchup. The disguised Roshi expects a brutal test and braces for the worst, unsure whether three years of solo training have truly prepared the boy for a warrior of this caliber.
Chappa unleashes his signature Eight-Arm Fist, whipping his limbs fast enough to blur into a defensive wall of strikes that seems impossible to breach. Goku meets the assault head on and answers in kind, quickly proving that the legendary champion is no longer the fastest fighter on the platform. Rather than pushing closer, Goku suddenly leaps into the open air above the ring. Roshi winces at the apparent mistake, worried that a fighter suspended in midair has surrendered all footing and can no longer dodge freely.
Chappa senses the same opening and rockets upward to finish the fight, but as he closes the distance Goku exhales a strong concentrated breath that slams into the rising warrior and slows his momentum to a crawl. The champion attack drifts off target, and Goku whips his body around and drives a clean kick into Chappa head. The turbaned master drops to the platform unconscious, another of the tournament oldest legends dispatched by the small fighter from Mount Paozu. The match ends so cleanly that only the sharpest observers in the crowd understand how completely Goku has outmaneuvered a champion once thought untouchable.
