Goku Gets Married!

Manga ChapterCh. 171

The 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament takes a surprising turn when Goku's mysterious female opponent reveals herself as Chi-Chi, the Ox-King's daughter. After a brief exchange in the ring, Goku ends the match with a single shockwave punch, only to learn the truth and honor his word.

A Promise Forgotten

As the third match of the tournament begins, Goku faces a fierce young woman whose identity remains a mystery to him and his friends. She launches an aggressive combination of kicks and punches, all while scolding Goku for forgetting his promise and ignoring a girl's feelings. Goku dodges and blocks her attacks with ease, but he is genuinely confused. He asks Krillin what a wife even means, prompting Krillin and Yamcha to collapse in disbelief. Krillin explains that taking a wife means getting married, while Yamcha clarifies that marriage means living together as partners. Krillin, for his part, is jealous that Goku managed to attract such a cute girl.

A Shockwave Finish

Oolong smirks knowingly, hinting that he, Bulma, Puar, and Master Roshi were all present the day Goku first met this woman. Growing tired of the guessing game, Goku tells his opponent to brace herself. He throws a single punch that stops short of contact, but the shockwave alone blasts her clear out of the ring. The announcer is baffled, seeing nothing happen, but Master Roshi explains that the force of the air pressure was enough to send her flying.

Chi-Chi Revealed

Piccolo, observing from a rooftop, notes that the technique resembles something from the Demon Clan's arsenal. The young woman, still impressed by her future husband's strength, finally reveals her identity: she is Chi-Chi, daughter of the Ox-King. Goku, Yamcha, Master Roshi, Bulma, and Puar all react with shock, though Oolong claims he knew all along. Goku recalls their conversation at Fire Mountain and realizes he once thought wife was a type of food. Still, a promise is a promise. He tells Chi-Chi they will get married, and the announcer declares to the crowd that Goku has proposed. As Chi-Chi clings to his arm on the walk backstage, Goku warns Krillin to take his next opponent seriously. Krillin and Piccolo step into the ring, trading insults before their match begins.
