Krillin squares off against Piccolo in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, refusing to back down despite the enormous gap in power. Using clever tactics like the Double Tsuibikidan and the Flight technique, Krillin manages to land a solid hit on his demonic opponent. However, Piccolo quickly takes control with superior speed and force, warning that he has yet to reveal his true strength.
The semifinal match between Krillin and Piccolo begins with Krillin noting his opponent's overconfidence. Rather than shrink from the challenge, Krillin announces he will fight at full power from the start. He opens with the Double Tsuibikidan, launching two guided energy blasts at Piccolo. Piccolo leaps into the air and dodges them easily, but Krillin bends the beams upward in pursuit. Piccolo responds by destroying both blasts from a safe distance using his Eye Lasers. While Piccolo is occupied with the incoming energy, Krillin seizes the opening, jumping toward Piccolo and landing a clean punch while his opponent is distracted.
Impressed despite himself, Piccolo admits that Krillin is more capable than he initially expected and decides to fight seriously. The two warriors engage in close-range combat, trading rapid punches at blistering speed. The exchange quickly tilts in Piccolo's favor as he lands a devastating kick that sends Krillin hurtling toward the edge of the arena. The distance appears more than enough to knock him out of bounds, and the crowd assumes the match is over.
To everyone's astonishment, Krillin stops himself in midair. He has mastered the Flight technique, hovering above the arena floor and refusing to be eliminated so easily. Both Goku and Tien Shinhan are amazed at how much Krillin has grown. Piccolo, however, is not rattled by the display itself. He acknowledges that Krillin's toughness and speed are what truly caught him off guard. With a menacing grin, Piccolo declares Krillin worthy of witnessing a true demon's power. From the sidelines, Goku urges Krillin not to underestimate what Piccolo is about to unleash.
