Goku exposes the fatal flaws in Tien Shinhan's Multi-Form and wins their semifinal decisively. First, the four copies rely entirely on their eyes, which Goku neutralizes with a Solar Flare. Second, splitting into four divides all power by four, leaving each copy too weak to resist. Goku knocks all four out of the ring in rapid succession and advances to the finals.
The four Tien Shinhans regroup at the corners of the ring and prepare for another coordinated assault. Each copy fires an energy blast at Goku from a different angle, and Goku leaps over the converging attacks once again. One of the Tiens shouts that Goku cannot escape twelve eyes, and all four prepare to fire their eye beams upward. Before they can release the blasts, Goku performs the Solar Flare, flooding the arena with an overwhelming burst of light. Every fighter and spectator in the vicinity is blinded instantly. The only two people unaffected are the sunglasses-wearing tournament announcer and Master Roshi, whose own shades protect him from the glare.
Goku lands back in the ring and addresses the four blinded Tiens. He explains that their greatest asset, the twelve eyes of the Multi-Form, is also their greatest vulnerability. The technique relies entirely on visual tracking to follow an opponent's movements, so the moment those eyes are taken away, the copies are helpless. One of the Tiens counters that Goku is just as blind, but Goku shakes his head and grins. He demonstrates by calling out the exact attack the Tien standing behind him is about to throw: a right chop. Goku reveals that during his training on the Lookout with Kami, he learned to sense an opponent's position and intent without using his eyes at all.
With the first flaw exposed, Goku moves on to the second. He charges directly at one of the Tien copies and strikes him in the chest with a single blow that sends him flying out of the ring. Goku then dashes to the second copy, the third, and finally the fourth, knocking each one beyond the arena boundary in rapid succession. None of them can mount a meaningful defense. Goku explains the simple math behind it: when one fighter divides into four bodies, each copy retains only one quarter of the original's attack power, defensive strength, and speed. Against Goku at full power, a fighter operating at twenty-five percent has no chance. With all four copies eliminated, Goku advances to the finals of the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament.
