A Private Revelation

After their semifinal bout, Goku and Tenshinhan shake hands and return backstage. Chi-Chi congratulates Goku on his win, while Tenshinhan confides to Yamcha and Krillin that Goku was clearly holding back his true power throughout their match. Meanwhile, Piccolo observes from a distance, acknowledging Goku as a worthy rival. The World Tournament Announcer calls Shen and Piccolo Jr. to the ring for their semifinal match.

Before heading out, Shen asks Chi-Chi to step outside for a moment. In private, Kami reveals to Goku that he is inhabiting Shen's body. Goku asks if Kami intends to destroy Piccolo, but Kami explains that he cannot defeat Piccolo in battle. He then asks whether Mr. Popo told Goku about the bond linking them. Since Kami and Piccolo were once a single being, the death of one guarantees the death of the other. Kami is furious with Mr. Popo for revealing too much, though Goku insists it came from a place of concern. Knowing that Goku cannot bring himself to kill Piccolo, Kami resolves to do the job himself, calling Piccolo Daimao a seed he sowed and one he must uproot.

The Sixth Match Begins

Shen finally arrives at the ring, joking that he was delayed by a trip to the restroom. Piccolo dismisses him, declaring that his real target is Goku. Shen challenges Piccolo, asking whether he plans to eliminate Goku so he can conquer the world again. Piccolo is startled that this stranger knows his intentions.

The match begins with a tremendous shockwave from Shen that sends Piccolo flying. Piccolo stabilizes in midair, and Shen pursues. Piccolo retaliates with a ki blast that Shen narrowly dodges; the blast crashes into the ocean surrounding Papaya Island. Piccolo strikes Shen from behind, driving him toward the ring. Shen lands but vanishes instantly, reappearing above Piccolo and kicking him beneath the arena floor. Piccolo bursts up through the opposite side of the ring, and the two fighters lock eyes. Krillin watches in disbelief, unable to comprehend the level of combat unfolding before him.
