Piccolo Destroys Everything!

Countdown to Annihilation

Piccolo continues pouring energy into his body, and Goku realizes with growing dread that he has never felt a ki this powerful before. The air itself vibrates around the Demon King's heir. Goku screams at the crowd to board an airplane and evacuate the island immediately, but his friends hesitate, unsure what he plans to do. Goku tells them plainly that he intends to stand his ground and withstand whatever Piccolo throws at him. There is simply no time to evacuate by conventional means, and Tien recognizes this instantly.

The Island Vanishes

Tien fires a Tri-Beam straight into the earth, carving a deep crater large enough for everyone to take shelter in. The spectators and fighters scramble down into the hole. Kami alone stays above ground, watching in grim fascination, until Launch grabs him by the collar and kicks the Guardian of Earth down into the pit without ceremony. With everyone below the surface, Goku braces himself and charges his own energy as a shield. Piccolo finally reaches his limit and unleashes the Hyper Explosive Demon Wave.

Wasteland

The blast is catastrophic. A column of white-hot energy slams into the arena and radiates outward in every direction, vaporizing the ring, the buildings, the trees, and even the coastline. Papaya Island is reduced to a flat, barren wasteland of cracked stone and drifting smoke. Piccolo lowers his arms and surveys the devastation with satisfaction, confident that nothing could have survived such total destruction. He scans the smoldering ground for any sign of Goku's remains. Then the smoke clears around a single figure standing in the center of the blast zone. Goku is upright, bruised but very much alive, with only minor damage to show for absorbing the full force of the attack. The survivors climb out of Tien's crater and erupt into cheers at the impossible sight of their friend still on his feet.
