The Day of the Saiyans

Arrival and Destruction

A crowd gathers around two enormous craters in East City, watching as a figure exits one of the space pods. Across the planet, Piccolo, Gohan, Yamcha, Krillin, Tien, and Chiaotzu all sense the Saiyans' arrival. Once both invaders emerge, the smaller one surveys Earth with visible disinterest. The larger Saiyan raises his hand and unleashes a blast that flattens the entire city, sparing only the two of them and their ships. He remarks his greeting was heavy-handed. The smaller Saiyan scolds him by name, Nappa, reminding him they are not here to show off. Nappa addresses his partner as Vegeta and says their goal is the whatever-Balls. Vegeta corrects him and explains they must first find whoever killed Raditz.

Tracking the Strongest Power

Vegeta scans for the highest battle power on Earth, reasoning it belongs to either Raditz's killer or Kakarot's son. Nappa notes a few Earthlings register above 1,000, but Vegeta dismisses them. He locks onto the strongest reading and tells Nappa to follow. They launch into the sky, with Nappa commenting on how much he enjoys the low gravity.

Yamcha detects the two massive energies on the move. Krillin tracks them heading toward two large ki signatures but cannot tell if the targets are Tien and Chiaotzu or Piccolo and Gohan. Piccolo warns Gohan, who says he is ready. Tien prepares to fly and orders Chiaotzu to stay behind, but Chiaotzu refuses. At Kame House, news reports describe a devastating quake in East City. Roshi recognizes what it means. Puar begs Yamcha not to die, while Bulma urges Goku to hurry as he sprints along Snake Way.

First Contact

At 12:20 PM, Piccolo and Gohan wait in the wasteland. They sense an approaching ki that turns out to be Krillin. Piccolo asks if he came to get in the way, and Krillin replies the others are en route. Gohan recognizes Krillin, recalling his father called him small but strong. Their exchange is cut short when Piccolo announces the Saiyans have arrived. Krillin staggers under the weight of their ki. Vegeta lands and asks if they have been waiting.
