Assembling the Crew

Back at Wukong Hospital, Bulma and Mr. Popo share the news about Kami's spaceship with the group. Mr. Popo explains that he cannot join the voyage because someone must watch over the Lookout in Kami's absence. This creates a problem, since the ship only responds to the Namekian language and Mr. Popo is the only speaker. He assures Bulma he can teach the language before they depart. Still, Bulma is reluctant to go alone. Master Roshi volunteers, but Bulma shuts him down, saying he would only create more danger. With Goku bedridden and unable to travel, Bulma turns to Krillin, who agrees without hesitation. Gohan then insists on joining as well. Chi-Chi erupts in fury, demanding her son stay home and focus on his studies. In a rare moment of defiance, Gohan shouts at his mother to be quiet, declaring that he is a fighter too. The room falls silent in shock.

Launch Day

Bulma brings the ship to Capsule Corporation, where her father Dr. Brief and his engineering crew spend ten days overhauling it and reprogramming the Namekian language interface. When the day of departure arrives, the crew assembles at Kame House, where the ship is now parked. Bulma has cut her hair short to fit her space suit and is visibly annoyed when Krillin shows up in casual clothes. Chi-Chi and the Ox-King arrive with Gohan, who has been given a bowl-shaped haircut and dressed in formal clothing by his mother. Krillin laughs and asks if it is really Gohan, and Gohan admits that even his father laughed at the look.

Into the Stars

The ship launches successfully, and once they are underway, Gohan reveals that he has made his own outfit based on Piccolo's training gi. The transformation from his mother's tidy ensemble to a warrior's uniform marks a clear statement about the journey ahead. Bulma changes out of her space suit into regular clothes and grumbles that she was the only one who had bothered preparing properly for outer space. With the ship on course, the long voyage toward Planet Namek begins.
