Frieza's Frustration

Standing before all seven Dragon Balls, Frieza commands them to grant him eternal life. Nothing happens. Captain Ginyu asks whether the transformation has taken effect, and Frieza admits that he does not feel any different. Recalling a Namekian elder's warning that collecting the balls alone would not be sufficient, Frieza concludes that a specific activation phrase or code is required. He realizes he needs to locate a living Namekian and force the secret out of them. Frustrated that he slaughtered so many potential informants, Frieza uses his scouter and detects the energy signatures of Dende, Grand Elder Guru, and Nail. He departs immediately to track them down, leaving Ginyu behind to guard the Dragon Balls.

Gohan's Refusal to Surrender

Back on the battlefield, Recoome continues his assault on Gohan, firing a barrage of ki blasts. Gohan weaves through the volley but runs straight into a punishing blow to the face. He collapses but forces himself back to his feet. Krillin begs him to stop fighting, but Gohan refuses to quit. Even Recoome is impressed by the boy's persistence. Gohan charges once more, throwing everything he has into a final attack.

A Devastating Finish

Recoome sidesteps Gohan's rush effortlessly and connects with a tremendous kick that sends the young half-Saiyan hurtling through the air. Gohan slams into the ground and lies motionless. Jeice observes that Gohan has no energy remaining, and Burter grimly notes that the boy's neck appears to be broken. Vegeta manages to stand and dismisses Gohan as pathetic, while Recoome complains that his opponents have been boring. Just then, a Capsule Corporation spaceship descends from the sky and lands on Namek's surface, signaling Goku's long-awaited arrival.
