Burter's Pride Shattered

Jeice screams a warning that Goku has appeared behind Burter. The blue-skinned warrior, who prides himself on being the fastest being in the universe, is incredulous that anyone could get behind him without being noticed. Goku suggests that Burter might actually be the second fastest. Burter demands to know who Goku is, and Goku explains that he is a Saiyan who was raised on Earth. Burter challenges the claim, insisting that Saiyans are not known for speed. Goku attributes his abilities to years of grueling training.

A Complete Mismatch

Refusing to accept the truth, Burter unleashes a furious barrage of punches and kicks. Goku dodges every single one without apparent effort. Jeice jumps in to help, but even their combined assault fails to connect. Deciding to demonstrate more than just speed, Goku sends Burter flying with a powerful kick, follows up by smashing him toward the ground, and then races beneath the falling warrior so that Burter lands across Goku's outstretched arm. Gohan, Krillin, and Jeice are stunned into silence.

Mercy and Ruthlessness

Vegeta shouts for Goku to finish Burter off, but Goku turns to Jeice instead and tells him that his allies are still alive. He offers them a chance to leave Namek with their lives. Jeice, terrified by what he has just witnessed, abandons Burter and flees the battlefield. Gohan, Krillin, and Goku are all taken aback by the sudden retreat.

Vegeta, however, sees opportunity in the pause. He drives a savage knee into Burter's neck, killing him, and then fires an energy wave that annihilates the unconscious Recoome. Goku confronts Vegeta in anger, pointing out that Burter was completely powerless. Vegeta responds with disgust, telling Goku that he will never become a Super Saiyan with such a soft attitude. Goku is confused by the reference, but Vegeta presses further, declaring that Frieza can never be defeated by someone so naive. The chapter closes with Frieza speeding in his hover pod toward Grand Elder Guru's home.
