Piccolo and Nail Unite

Having just arrived on Namek, Piccolo comes across Nail lying gravely wounded on the ground. The Namekian warrior recognizes Piccolo as the one the Earthlings had spoken of. Though sympathetic, Piccolo explains that he is in a hurry and cannot stay. Nail suggests that if Piccolo were to reunite with Kami, he could surpass even Frieza's power. Piccolo flatly refuses that idea, so Nail offers himself instead, proposing that Piccolo assimilate him.

Piccolo hesitates, worried that merging with another being will erase his own personality. Nail reassures him that his identity will remain intact. Still reluctant, Piccolo agrees to try. The fusion is instantaneous. A wave of new energy floods through Piccolo, and he becomes convinced that he can now stand against any opponent. He takes off toward the battlefield at full speed.

Vegeta Challenges Frieza

Elsewhere, Frieza finishes powering up and prepares to deal with the remaining fighters. Krillin voices despair, believing the situation is hopeless. Vegeta, however, disagrees. He points to Gohan's hidden potential and expresses confidence that he himself is on the verge of becoming a Super Saiyan.

Frieza scoffs at the notion and charges at Vegeta. To the tyrant's visible surprise, Vegeta blocks both incoming strikes. The clash sends a shockwave through the area, and the strain on Frieza's scouter causes it to shatter from reading Vegeta's elevated power level.

A Deadly Invitation

Frieza grudgingly acknowledges that Vegeta was not entirely bluffing about his strength. Vegeta presses the advantage by taunting the tyrant, telling him to transform if he wants a real fight. Frieza is caught off guard that Vegeta even knows about his ability to change forms. Vegeta reveals that Zarbon let the secret slip. With Krillin and Gohan watching in horror, Frieza smiles and agrees to show them his true power.
