On King Kai's planet, the dead warriors learn that Goku is fighting Frieza on even footing. On Namek, the battle intensifies as Frieza knocks Goku into the ocean. Submerged and out of sight, Goku exploits Frieza's reliance on visual tracking, launching a clever underwater counterattack that lands a clean hit on the tyrant.
Far away on King Kai's world, Yamcha presses King Kai for an update on the situation on Namek. King Kai reveals that Frieza killed Vegeta with little effort, a fact that shocks both Yamcha and Tien. Yamcha doubts that even Goku could defeat someone that powerful, but King Kai surprises them all by reporting that the clash between Goku and Frieza is perfectly even so far.
Back on Namek, Frieza remarks that he is impressed by Goku's strength, having believed no warrior in the universe surpassed Captain Ginyu. Still brimming with confidence, Frieza destroys the rock formation beneath his feet and prepares to continue. Goku evades and launches a Kiai at Frieza, but the tyrant slips out of range and reappears behind him. A swift kick sends Goku plummeting into the ocean below.
Rather than surfacing immediately, Goku stays submerged and considers his options. He deduces that Frieza tracks opponents by sight rather than by sensing ki, and he resolves to exploit this weakness. On the sideline, Krillin worries about Goku, but Gohan reassures him that his father's energy has not dropped at all.
From beneath the water, Goku fires two energy blasts toward Frieza one after the other. Each time, Frieza expects Goku to emerge alongside the blast and is caught off guard when only the energy sphere arrives. While Frieza dodges the second sphere, Goku bursts from the water at an unexpected angle and stomps the tyrant straight down into a rock formation below. Goku is pleased with the result, but his satisfaction is short-lived. Frieza pulls himself from the rubble looking almost completely unharmed.
