Frieza and Goku agree to relocate their battle to solid ground, where Frieza boasts he will fight without using his hands. The two engage in a fierce close-quarters brawl filled with tail grabs, biting, and witty banter. Despite Frieza's arrogance, Goku holds his own and lands several clean shots, warning the tyrant that overconfidence creates openings.
Hovering face to face in the air, Frieza asks Goku whether he would prefer to continue fighting airborne or move to the ground. Goku chooses the ground, and Frieza points toward a nearby island. The two fly over and land. Goku remarks sarcastically that Frieza is generous for letting him choose the battlefield. Frieza responds by offering an even larger bonus: he will not use his hands at all. Goku, never one to refuse an advantage, asks if he can have the first move as well. Frieza agrees without hesitation.
Goku rushes in and the two begin trading attacks. Neither connects at first until Frieza catches Goku with a heavy tail strike, sending him tumbling through the air. Goku recovers quickly and charges right back. He manages to grab hold of Frieza's tail, swings the tyrant in a wide arc, and launches him into a rock formation. Frieza shakes off the impact and returns to the fight almost instantly.
The brawl resumes with a rapid exchange of blows. Goku drives a kick into Frieza's stomach, but Frieza retaliates by coiling his tail around Goku's neck. Goku frees himself by biting down hard on the tail. While Frieza is still reeling from the shock, Goku capitalizes with a solid kick to his face.
Frieza responds with a punch that sends Goku skidding backward. Goku points out that Frieza just broke his own rule by using his hands. Frieza simply declares that the bonus period is over. Undaunted, Goku tells Frieza that his overconfidence leaves him wide open. Frieza offers a sarcastic thank-you for the advice, and the two prepare to continue with no more self-imposed restrictions.
