Wishes and Farewells

Bulma glumly tells Gohan that reviving Goku and Krillin seems impossible, since their bodies would materialize in the void where Namek once existed. Vegeta unexpectedly offers a solution: wish their souls to Earth first, then revive them. Gohan extends a grateful handshake, but Vegeta slaps the boy's hand away, privately admitting he only wants to witness a Super Saiyan. Moori asks for help finding his people shelter. Bulma invites the Namekians to Capsule Corporation and extends the offer to Vegeta, who grudgingly accepts. Gohan timidly asks to stay as well, confessing he has not done his homework and fears his mother's wrath.

Porunga's Revelations

After 130 days, one Namekian year, the Dragon Balls reactivate. Porunga is summoned, but when asked to bring Goku and Krillin's souls to Earth, the dragon responds with a surprise: only Krillin's soul can be moved, because Goku is still alive. Krillin is wished back to life. Bulma then asks Porunga to teleport Goku home, but the dragon says Goku refuses and will return on his own. Master Roshi jokes that Goku must be avoiding Chi-Chi, earning a threat of violence from her. Piccolo suggests reviving someone from King Kai's planet. Yamcha is chosen so Tien and Chiaotzu can stay together. Another 130 days later they are also revived, and the Namekians use the final wish to relocate to a new planet.

A Terrifying Arrival

A full year passes with no word from Goku. Gohan, studying at home, suddenly senses an enormous ki bearing down on the planet. He calls Krillin, who confirms the same familiar, dreadful energy. King Kai identifies it with horror: Frieza. Tien notes there are actually two massive signatures. Aboard King Cold's spaceship, the truth is revealed. Frieza has survived, rebuilt as a cyborg with mechanical limbs replacing everything Goku destroyed. He tells his father they have beaten Goku to Earth. King Cold suggests obliterating the planet outright, but Frieza wants to make it personal by slaughtering Goku's loved ones first. On Earth, Gohan throws on his battle armor and rushes out, ignoring Chi-Chi's protests.
