Son Goku Comes Home

Following the Stranger

After destroying Frieza, King Cold, and their ship, Future Trunks flies off toward a specific location, claiming that Goku will arrive there. Gohan decides to follow, and one by one the rest of the Z Fighters join in. Once they land, Trunks opens a capsule refrigerator and casually announces there are still three hours until Goku's arrival. He offers drinks to the group, and Bulma, Gohan, and Krillin accept.

Questions Without Answers

Curiosity gets the better of the Z Fighters, who begin pressing the youth for information. How does he know Goku? How did he become so powerful? Trunks offers little, stating only that he has never actually met Goku and confirming that he was indeed a Super Saiyan when he defeated Frieza and King Cold. Bulma notices the Capsule Corporation logo stitched into his jacket and probes further, but the only detail he shares is that he is seventeen years old. Tien and Yamcha ask for his name, prompting Bulma to tell them to stop pestering the boy.

Small Talk and Observations

The conversation shifts when Gohan asks Piccolo why he chose not to leave with the other Namekians for New Namek. Piccolo explains that he found the idea of a peaceful life boring and tells Gohan that he trains every single day. Nearby, Bulma quietly remarks to Krillin that Vegeta also trains relentlessly and wonders if anyone else notices the resemblance between Vegeta and the stranger. Krillin dismisses the idea, noting that their personalities could not be more different. Future Trunks catches himself staring at Vegeta, who snaps at him, but the youth simply looks away without responding.

Goku's Arrival

The group passes the remaining hours in idle conversation. When the three hours are up, Future Trunks suddenly announces that it is time. The Z Fighters feel an enormous ki approaching from above. An Attack Ball bearing a Ginyu Force insignia slams into the ground nearby, carving out a massive crater. Goku climbs out wearing an unfamiliar outfit, visibly puzzled to see all of his friends gathered in one place. When Gohan asks if Goku knows the mysterious youth, the group is stunned to hear Goku ask who the stranger is.
